RALPH PETTY was born in the United States in 1952, came to Paris in 1976 to work in the etching studio of Stanley Hayter, Atelier 17, and has remained in France since that time. He has taught at Parsons School of Design Paris and L’Institut d’etudes politiques, Paris and is presently Associate Professor of Fine Arts at The American University of Paris and is the University Curator. He created the AUP Fine Arts Gallery and founded the new AUP permanent art collection. He received the Harriet Hale Wooley Scholarship for American artists in Paris and a study grant from the Italian government for mosaic in Ravenna, Italy. He has exhibited in the USA, Europe and Japan and will soon have a solo exhibition of paintings and drawings in four Russian Contemporary Art museums, the Haus-Kasuya Museum near Kamakura and the Mutsu Gallery in Chiba, Japan He continues to paint and draw and is also a saxophonist and singer.
