Explore my work

As a painter, sculptor, and draftsman, I draw inspiration from nature, what I observe of humanity and use my imagination to mix it all up. Sometimes I work directly from nature, ex: landscape, portraits and the nude model. When I work from imagination, the same principles apply as when I work from nature: for example, maintaining a consistency in the direction of light. Thank you, Rembrandt and Goya.

For the drawings, I grind my own watercolors into a medium, using a combination of pigments so that they precipitate giving me a range of hues, from blue to violet to red, for example. I work them like ink wash using a bamboo pen and brush, sometimes with a spray bottle—anything to conjure an image or ignite the material (medium?) to create a composition. I pursue certain works, sometimes to their destruction, if I cannot find their meaning. That is why I like titles.
