“Hold back the edges of your gowns, Ladies, we are going through hell.”

Introduction to Ginsberg's Howl by William Carlos Williams

Notes from the Underground
Drawings

All drawings are watercolor on 38 x 28 cm Arches 300 gr rough watercolor paper.

I present to you a vision of our world that condenses the tragedies, comedies and primate follies into drawings. They depict stories of our time. These drawings appeared from somewhere deep in my (our) psyche, that eternally expanding universe. From one point of view, they are obscure, however, they do have meaning. Like dreams (nightmares) they inspire interpretation.

A message? For me, they represent aspects of life in the 21st century. I can claim to have seen (or heard) the spectacles that inspired them. Most do not make me happy. No more war I say. Greed and need mysteriously rhyme. There's an alchemy involved in interpreting observation through drawings. They evolve, condense, transform into the essence of a vision of 'reality'. Think of an alien taking notes of scenes from our daily lives, think foreign observer. I am not happy bringing you such darkness, but I cannot remain silent. And as the days roll by, I will continue to draw what I see. I am not asking your permission; I am only asking you to look.
